"Its with nostalgic sadness to attend the virtual memorial , something, Iall of us here never expected to be there for us all. My family and I knew Ali Buhr, his sister Hoppi and brother Donsie. His parents were good friends with my parents in Walvisbay. His dad used to sing an operette, "Zarewitch" uit volle bots, then took a glass with Vodka and smashed it against the lounge wall above my mother's head. It was frightening . Ali took pride to be well read and better informed. He spoke Afrikaans, German and English fluently, with obvious pride. Pity we weren't in good contact during our adult life. He was a good man and good company to be with, always educating and entertaining . May your soul rest in peace."
"Albert for the long period of friendship I will for sure carry you in my thoughts. I also thank you for what you meant to me in our walk of life.R.I.P"

"I first met Albert in Swakopmund,Namibia in 1975 - we had many wonderful adventures and lots of fun as members of Swakopmund Round Table. After we moved to Canada in 1981,we remained good friends and we got together on many occasions when we visited South Africa. More recently,in April 2019 when we landed in Johannesburg,Albert's son,Richard met us at the airport and drove us to Albert & Karin's house where we enjoyed the day with the family and had a nice "braai" - I will remember Albert as a fun loving, positive and kind person whose family meant so much to him ! RIP my dear kamerad ! Sincere condolences to the family."

"We were both in the legal department of the old Trust Bank where we became close friends and ardent Saturday rugby spectators at Newlands. I fondly remember his keen wit, intellect and kind demeanor. Oh, yes ,and his special handwriting!! I will miss you!"
"Watter wonderlike neef en makker was jy!"
"Farewell old friend. Wonderful memories of days gone by. "
"I loved the Sunday snooker sessions when Richard and I were still in high school, we played and played and enjoyed your company at the Ruimsig Golf Club. It was a highlight and I looked forward to that opportunity. In many ways you made me the player I am today, thank you for making it possible for me to touch my first snooker felt... o yes and paying the bill :-) You will be missed deeply Albert, this goodbye is a start for you, you have gained ultimate freedom from suffering but these are indeed not the last words we will exchange... we will meet again and will embrace each other by playing another game of snooker and you will be victorious again. To Alberts son’s, daughter and loving wife know this, he was a kind soul and he loved you and life with every fibre. A man that will be remembered from this point of view is a big fish that never gets himself caught for too long. The story of your life is bigger and more amazing when it is embellished by everyone that knew you, I wish that we all will tell your story and keep you alive in our hearts and souls so that future generations will know who you were and what you meant to your family and friends. I will personally miss the smell of your pipe and the love of a good drink or two will always linger in my memory in this life and probably my next. I had many good times with you at the local pub when you were a bit younger and still healthy. We watched the rugby together like a son and father. You were just cool like that! Thank you! “À tout le monde À tous mes amis Je vous aime Je dois partir These are the last words I'll ever speak And they'll set me free” "
